Chef Ashbell's Food in America is Scheduled for Production.

This unique, new public television series tells the story of the many unsung cooking heroes who contributed to the gorgeous mosaic of cuisine that is Food in America.

The first series, entitled "The African American Contribution," traces the international, and multiracial roots of what we now refer to as Southern Regional Cuisine, the only original cuisine created in the United States.

Here's what Chef Ashbell has to say about the first series:

"I am amazed at how culture and tradition gets sprinkled into the foods we eat, very much like unusual spices adding that perfect touch to a pot of stew. This show will forever lay low the term " Soul Food," and once and for all give Southern Regional Cuisine it's proper due alongside other haute cuisines of the world," says Chef Ashbell. Using the ethnic roots of his own family tree, Chef Ashbell will explore the food and foodways of African Americans and chronicle their incredible contribution to food in America.

The series will take a handful of French, three bunches of Spanish, a measure or two of English and Scottish, a heaping bowl of Native American, and as much African spice as it takes to bind the whole stew, simmer it in a big iron pot and serve!

Food in America is slated to reach public television viewers in top demographic regions around the U.S. Limited sponsorships may still be available. For business or press inquiries contact: foodinamerica@karmacom.com
