Chef Ashbell in London
Chef Ashbell's Restaurant Ashbells Opens in Notting Hill

This summer, London's too-cool Notting Hill is all abuzz with talk of "grits" "Maryland soft shell crabs," "smoked pork belly," "biscuits and cornbread," "moonshine martinis" and "smothered seafood."

The word is out about Chef Ashbell's southern regional cuisine, a new taste experience for most Londoners. So make your reservations early when traveling "across the pond," and experience a night out at Ashbells.

"London has never seen anything like Ashbells before," raves Kate Spicer of The Evening Standard. Spicer, who loved "the sumptuous and betassled soft furnishings, dubbing the interior "Afrodecobarouquefrican." The London Metro said, "There's a lot to like here," including "great stuff," "Pork ribs, tender and meaty, dripping with a high-octane barbecue sauce, just the right mix..." Agenda suggests readers go to Ashbells to "tuck into some soul food," and " stay one step ahead on the cuisine craze front."

Chef Ashbell is planning a late night hang, too. Within walking distance of Ashbells, it's called "Soul In The Hole." The bar-club will feature live music, cool drinks and casual southern food favorites like oyster po' boys, fried catfish sandwiches, pecan pie, and honey-cured ham.
